Rosalind Murray- Lateral Canal Ahead Reception
Presented by Cambridge Arts Council Gallery
October 13, 2011
Gallery Reception Tonight from 6-8 pm
Irish artist Rosalind Murray creates images, compositions and narratives through performance. The show's title, Lateral Canal Ahead, makes reference to eleven miles of canal system built on the river Barrow to allow navigation. When the canal splits the water, one volume goes through a slow deep reflective channel, and one is wild, fast and unpredictable. Murray will investigate similar industrial "tracks" through performances in Cambridge and Ireland, resulting in an installation of images, videos and drawing for show in the gallery, that relate to way-finding, boundaries and duality as part of the human condition. The works draws out connections between the personal, national and international, along with the environmental, social and metaphysical, within space and time.
