    John Landis and Rick Baker's grueling lycanthropic transformation in American Werewolf instantly made 1981 one of the greatest years in the history of horror.

    Landis crafted a pitch perfect horror film with this classic. A howling entry into our favorite genre that has equal parts chills, thrills, gore, and so much more. We watch this film first and foremost every October to set the mood for Halloween. It's the crown jewel of werewolf movies. Rick Baker pulls of the greatest werewolf transformation in the history of cinema! It happens right before your eyes! No CGI, no animation, simply the most amazing practical effects you’ve ever seen. You'll hear bones crunch, see flesh stretch, and feel the heat-rate of the person sitting next to you go through the roof. There was really no question in our minds when deciding which flick from '81 to bring you for a 30th anniversary screening. We hope you'll join us in celebrating this gory shred of cinematic perfection the way it was meant to be presented; on 35mm, close to Halloween, and in front of a rabid audience of gore-hounds!
