Add Review/Comment
Distinguished director Márta Mészáros’ film reflects political repression, love, exile and memory. Hungarian Social Democrat Anna Kethly, a progressive in Imre Nagy’s government and an outspoken critic of Jewish racial laws, inspires it. After the 1956 Soviet invasion, Anna moved to Belgium. In this drama set in the 1970s, a young Hungarian literary critic is sent by the State Security Police to exploit Anna’s homesickness. New England Premiere In Person: Director Márta Mészáros
