Travel & Taste: Papua New Guinea and Birds in Paradise
November 10, 2011
Add Review/Comment
Of all the birding destinations in the world, Papua New Guinea would have to rank as the most fascinating and exotic. In the virtually untouched forests, ornately patterned fruit doves and brilliantly colored fig-parrots dash overhead; bowerbirds build elaborate nests to attract mates. In one of the most astonishing exhibits of the natural world, twenty species of dazzling birds of paradise present elaborate iridescent colors and wild tail plumes. Explore the diverse habitats of the country from lowland rivers and sprawling grasslands, to highlands and forested valleys where native tribesmen dance still dress to mimic the fabulous birds-of-paradise.
