Longwood Symphony Orchestra - Liszt & Beethoven

The mission of Longwood Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra of Boston's medical community, is to perform concerts of musical diversity and excellence, while supporting health-related nonprofit organizations. This concert coincides with the one-year anniversary of the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan and benefits the Japanese Disaster Relief Fund-Boston.

The LSO is proud to be a part of a 35-orchestra consortium that commissioned "Sidereus" (Starry Messenger) by Boston composer Osvaldo Golijov. Guest conductor Federico Cortese also leads the LSO in two works of undeniable bravura and heroism, Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with brilliant Russian pianist Gleb Ivanov, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3.
