Come hear the fascinating past of the storied neighborhood of “Southie.” Robert Allison, Chair of History at Suffolk University, explains how South Boston grew rapidly with the railroad, becoming a hub of industry filled with iron foundries, machine shops, shipyards, and refineries, and how its population exploded with Irish immigrants fleeing famine and seeking employment.
