    The Loving Story

The dramatic story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple living in Virginia in the 1960s, and their landmark Supreme Court Case, Loving v. Virginia, that changed history. At the time of their wedding, interracial marriage was illegal in 16 states, including their homestate of Virginia. They were driven out of Virginia, forbidden to return as a couple in the future. Mildred, frustrated by discrimination, wrote to Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who motivated her to take her case to the American Civil Liberties Union, launching their legal fight for justice. The Loving Story invites the viewers into Mildred and Richard’s relationship, revealing their struggle as a couple to not only achieve social justice, but to live in peace as a family. The Loving Story was selected as one of the 15 Best Documentary Oscar finalists for 2012
