Travel & Taste: Midway, after the Tsunami
January 19, 2012
Add Review/Comment
Join us to find out about the recent tsunami event in Japan and its impacts on the wildlife of Midway Atoll. Midway Atoll is part of the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument in the northwest Hawaiian Islands and has over 400,000 nesting pairs of Laysan Albatross in just under 1500 acres of land. With a maximum height of only ten feet above sea level, Midway's albatross populations were especially vulnerable to the tsunami. Wayne regularly leads trips to Midway and was there only two days after the tsunami. Location-themed dinner and lecture or lecture only. Dinner at 6:30 pm, Lecture at 7:30 pm. Pre-registration required for dinner.
