With Of Worlds Apart, New England’s most celebrated dance-maker, Jose Mateo, invites you to experience four distinctly different ballets inspired by the musical compositions of four innovative composers from distinctly different cultures and times. Each in their own way, they provide the impulse for dynamic ballets that explore universal aspects of personal journey and conflict.

Of Worlds Apart features Mateo's celebrated Cuban-inspired, Pagano y No (choreographed 2011, music: Ortiz), performed now for the first time since its stunning premiere at last spring's sold-out event, ¡Cubania! Also featured are of three of Mateo's earliest works that have not graced the stage in over a decade: Three Women (choreographed 1992, music: Mozart), Ancient Portraits “Daphne & Apollo” (choreographed 1990, music: Beethoven), and The Last Circus (choreographed 1990, music: Stravinsky).

The stunning Sanctuary Theatre offers audiences an extraordinary close-up view of the dancers with reserved cabaret-style seating and cocktails during the show. The Sanctuary Theatre is home to Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre and is hailed as one of the area’s most spectacular performance spaces.
