Turning the coin, John Adams’ “Shaker Loops” explores the prayerful, the physical, and the ecstatic. Between these two works comes a new double concerto by Kip Jones (featuring folk duo K2 – Jones and Crier bassist Karl Doty) that seamlessly blends the gravity of classical music with the relaxed intimacy of the fiddling tradition.
