THEATRE
Verdi’s immensely popular opera, La traviata, scandalized its audience when it was first performed and continues to do so today. La Traviata (literally, the fallen woman) is the story of an affair between star-crossed lovers, Alfredo, a commoner, and Violetta, a terminally-ill courtesan proving that true love must triumph over all and that the highest virtue in a human being is a good heart.
