The Paul Madore Chorale presents A Memorial Concert
Presented by The Paul Madore Chorale
April 22, 2012
The Chorale presents its bi-annual Memorial Concert, which is given in memory of the Chorale’s deceased members and friends. The concert features Requiem Masses by Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé. These pieces are quite similar in format, Duruflé having followed Fauré’s texts with emphasis on certain passages in the funeral liturgy, but are very different in execution. Duruflé follows the Gregorian chant Mass very closely while turning it into a very contemporary and exquisite piece of music. Both works are examples of some of the most beautiful music ever written for the concert chorus. The chorale will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra featuring organist Robert Littlefield, music director at the First Parish Church. Soloists will be soprano Erin Smith, mezzo Julia Teitl and baritone Michael Pelletier.
