The Oriana Consort-"Many Voices Of Spring"
April 22, 2012
The Oriana Consort, a 27-voice chorale based in Cambridge, returns to First Parish with “Many Voices of Spring”: • selections from Sergei Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil; • Benjamin Britten’s Five Flower Songs; • several works by Heinrich Schütz, accompanied by an ensemble of 17th-century instruments; and • selections from Passover Songs by the Israeli composer Yehezkel Braun. The Boston Musical Intelligencer recently wrote of having been “...duly impressed by the amateur chorus’s technical proficiency, ensemble, timbral blend, clear differentiation of musical styles, and expressive musical readings...”. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow the concert.
