Escape Artists opens with Inventories of Animated Bodies (2012) a work created by French choreographer Christine Fricker for the company based on improvisational tasks. The work was created as an installation piece and will be in progress as the audience enters the theatre. The audience will be free to move around the dancers as observers of sculpture. The second piece on the program is a favorite entitled Velvet Helix (2010) set to the music of Gabriel Faure. Joining the line up of work to be presented is this year’s premiere Escape Artist (2012). The piece is about personal inner conflict as exhibited through behavior with others. Rounding off the program the Elders perform Parish Blues (2011) based on a Sunday go to meeting: pot luck supper ladies have such a frolicking time they can’t get their hats straightened out or remember whose hat is whose.
