Franklin Park Zoo Kicks Off Summer with Centennial Celebration “Zoo 100 Day”
May 19, 2012
On May 19, Franklin Park Zoo begins its exciting summer season with Zoo 100 Day, a kick-off event to salute the Zoo’s 100th birthday. While Franklin Park Zoo’s 100th birthday isn’t until October, we believe such a milestone year should be celebrated all season long!
Zoo 100 Day will be the first event of a series of centennial celebrations throughout the summer. Be sure to join us for a fun-filled day that will include zookeeper encounters, entertainment and more! The Jumping Monkeys, a children's musical group, will perform from 10:15 - 11:00 AM and from 11:15 AM – noon (weather permitting). Watch as some of the animals, including the tigers, African wild dogs, keas and others, receive birthday themed enrichment items including ice treats and paper mache “cakes” filled with treats. The first 1,000 visitors to the Zoo will receive a complimentary mini cupcake or frosting shot, courtesy of Sweet Cupcakes!
In addition, on Saturday, May 19, Sweet Cupcakes will award its 100th customer with a Zoo party! The lucky winner will have the chance to throw his or her own party at Franklin Park Zoo with up to 20 friends.
