Original Orchestration. With a mix of battle music, dance, and songs of praise, Swiss composer Arthur Honegger’s oratorio, King David, vividly recounts the life of the Old Testament king. Masterworks Chorale concludes its 72nd season with a performance of this dramatic and evocative 20th century masterpiece. Steven Karidoyanes conducts the Masterworks chorus, orchestra, and featured soloists soprano Teresa Wakim, mezzo-soprano Krista River and tenor Jason McStoots. Baritone Ron Williams serves as the narrator of this epic story. Acclaimed, award-winning actress Paula Plum performs the role of ‘The Witch of Endor.’ The oratorio will be sung in English and accompanied by the original orchestral instrumentation.
