What Color Are Your Work Boots? A Performance by Laura Lapointe

All she wants to do is find some meaningful work and pay the bills. After years of endless interviews, failed attempts at “real” jobs, and absurd experiences in short-lived unexpected employment situations, she’s still searching but just may have discovered something more valuable than a steady paycheck. Join Laura Lapointe on a poignant, earnest, playful artistic exploration of how there may be a lot more to finding good work than finding a good job. Anyone who has ever been unemployed, under-employed or unhappily employed will relate to familiar moments that reveal how amazing it is that any of us actually negotiate and/or succeed within this sometimes ridiculous process called a career. From the pangs of perceived inadequacy to the promise of hard-won perspective, Laura exposes the inner experiences of one in the job search trenches. You just might leave feeling refreshed and ready to put on your own work boots and set out on your unique purposeful path, regardless of what your job is or isn’t. A former student of retired LHS drama teacher Steven Bogart, Laura holds a BFA in Acting from NYU, a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School, and several other items and experiences of dubious meaning and worth. In one year she went on 40 job interviews and ended up working in a prison. Question and answer session to follow the performance.
