More than 400 fans from around the country will pack the Cambridge
Performing Arts Center May 12-13th for the explosive finale to the In
the Groove: Battle of the Bands 2012, hosted by the Music Makers’
Foundation. 16 finalists, representing some of the finest talent east
of the Mississippi, will go head to head to win some incredible
Last Fall, 64 bands hailing from Maine to Florida competed in Boston,
New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. for the chance to perform
at the new Xibus Performance Hall, part of the new Cambridge
Performing Arts Center. Now, the final 16 will go all out, vying for
the judge’s vote, audience’s support, and the fantastic prizes,
* $1000 gift certificate to Sam Ash Music
* Featured set at the legendary Symphony Hall in Boston, MA, home
to the Boston Pops, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and regularly cited as
one of the best music halls in all the world (Spring 2013)
* Management contract for 2012-13 US Tour opening for the Boston
String Quartet. Dates to be determined, but including cities in DC,
VT, IA, GA, TN, OH, FL, VA
* Music publishing contract for one book with Groove Publishing.
Book shall include up to eight original musical compositions by the
winning band, and shall be available for commercial purchase in stores
and in online marketplaces.
The highly anticipated Battle begins at 3pm on Saturday, May 12 for
the Under 18 set, and 5pm Sunday the 13th for the Over 18s. The
Jessica Prouty Band - who’ve also won numerous Battles of the Bands
and other competitions, had their songs played on Boston radio, and
released three albums, the latest of which, My Way, came out this past
June - will kick off the festivities and open the show.
