    From Boston to Berlin

The Zamir Chorale of Boston, which performs Jewish music spanning thousands of years, four continents, and a variety of styles, both classical and popular, will feature musical highlights from the chorus’s recent tour to Berlin, where it represented the United States at the first Louis Lewandowski Festival.

The program includes music by the iconic 19th century Jewish composer for the Berlin synagogues, Louis Lewandowski; music by his contemporary, Felix Mendelssohn; music by Jewish composers who were active in Berlin in the 1920s, but who were forced to flee under the Nazi regime; and music by contemporary American composers, which Zamir performed in Berlin to represent the United States.

Founded in 1969, and conducted by Professor Joshua Jacobson, one of the world’s leading authorities on Jewish choral music, Zamir’s award-winning performances are enjoyed by people of all ages, religions, and races.
