The concert will feature familiar patriotic anthems such as Battle Hymn of the Republic, Salute to the Armed Forces, God Bless the USA, and a rousing medley of This Land is Your Land, Grand Old Flag and the beautiful and moving Blades of Grass and Pure White Stone. This event will also seek to raise awareness and funds for locally-based, veterans’ charity, Homes for Our Troops (HFOT), which builds specially adapted homes for those who have given to our country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries. Founded here in 2004, HFOT has already built over 100 homes for disabled veterans across the nation, at no expense to its recipients. SMFC has been following the progress of Massachusetts soldier, Joshua Bouchard, who will receive one of these houses very soon. In April, several members of SMFC traveled to Josh’s home town of Granby to participate in his new home’s groundbreaking.
