Originating in Chicago, BYE BYE LIVER is currently running in 8 cities across the US and Canada. The comedy sketch distills the best and worst of drinking culture into 75-min of booze themed skits. The show touches on those all-too-common situations that any bar-goer is familiar with, including that one friend who everyone swears they will never drink with again, the pushy bouncers that man the doors, or the girl with one martini too many who just goes on and on about her ex. Boston’s thriving drinking culture means that many of us have a friend that fits one of these bills (or, perhaps, we’re that friend), making the jokes hit home all the more, even for those not drinking.

Creator Byron Hatfield wanted to go beyond the typical comedy sketch show, infusing the fun-filled atmosphere of a bar into the theater. Fueling the competitive edge (and what drinker isn’t competitive?), the audience will find themselves pitted against the actors, males against females, in various interactive social games and an often called “social drink.” The perfect cross between performance and bar scene, BYE BYE LIVER is the gateway drug to theater.
