July 25 - August 1, 2012
Delve into the techniques and appraoches that nature artists use to depict the natural world in this two-session workshop.
The first session (July 25)will explore drawing methods and techniques, focusing on shape, contour, gesture and memory drawing. Barry will describe his field drawing methods and show how the regular use of a field sketchbook leads to a deeper understanding of the natural world and at the same time develop artistic and expressive potential.
The second session (August 1) will focus on tone and color. Barry will discuss how to observe and record values, and show how to mix difficult colors by applying the concept of color temperature. Barry will finish by showing how he uses his field studies to create larger and more complex pictures back in the studio.
