Once the center of the world's wool industry, it's also the birthplace of the safety razor and Valentine's Day candy hearts! Learn about the remarkable landfill projects that created the neighborhood as you consider the gritty streetscapes that inspired painter Charles Sheeler, photographer Walker Evans, and director Martin Scorsese, whose 2007 Oscar winner, The Departed, was shot on these very streets.
