    Come see Peter Asher play at Johnny D's! Peter Asher is a man of many talents. In the early 1960?s, just as the British Invasion was happening, Asher joined up with Gordon Waller to become the pop duo Peter & Gordon. Their biggest hit was the 1964 Paul McCartney song “A World Without Love”. Asher and McCartney became friends when Asher’s sister Jane was dating McCartney. Peter & Gordon disbanded in 1968 and Asher took charge of the A&R department at Apple Records where he signed the then unknown singer James Taylor. Asher went on to produce Taylor’s debut record which was not a success. Asher was so convinced of Taylor’s talent, he quit Apple and moved to the United States to manage James Taylor. He produced Taylor’s hit records of the 1970?s including Sweet Baby James, Mud Slide Slim & The Blue Horizon, JT and Flag. He later produced hits for Linda Ronstadt such as Heart Like A Wheel, Simple Dreams, Living In the USA and more.
