The Dance Division presents Unleashed!, its second fall season under the direction of Cathy Young. Featuring five works by today’s most exciting contemporary dance artists, the concert showcases the passion, artistry and physicality of our students. We are honored to present two seminal works by giants in the field of contemporary dance: D-Man in the Waters by Bill T. Jones and Eight Jelly Rolls by Twyla Tharp. D-Man in the Waters, set to Mendelssohn's String Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 20, will be performed with live accompaniment by Music Division students.

Unleashed! also features three commissions by artists with a diverse range of styles and approaches. The senior class will perform a new work created for them by choreographer Larry Keigwin, artistic director of Keigwin + Company, whose choreography has been described by Roslyn Sulcas of The New York Times as “witty, kinetic and musically responsive… ” Longtime faculty member and former Boston Ballet dancer Gianni Di Marco will create a new contemporary ballet and the program will be completed with a modern work by “downtown” dance artist Colleen Thomas, whose choreography combines rigorous physicality with dynamic partnering to explore the human condition.

Unleashed! offers Boston Conservatory students and audiences alike the thrill of experiencing dance created by some of the most original and innovative artists in the feild today.
