Celebrate Tradition: South Asian Iftar
Presented by American Islamic Congress
July 30, 2012
Throughout history, The Silk Road was an epicenter of ideas and innovation in the history of the Muslim world. In this spirit of cross-cultural exchange, AIC invites guests from all corners of the Silk Road and beyond to break fast with us on July 30. With a special emphasis on the rich traditions of the subcontinent, this special iftar will feature South Asian cuisine, free henna, music, and traditional dance. For the past two years this event has been SOLD OUT! Space is limited – reserve your ticket today!
As Ramadan’s month-long fast instills a special appreciation for giving, proceeds from the event will be donated to the Pine Street Inn, a local homeless shelter. During last year’s “Help End Hunger” campaign, we donated over 400 pounds of cereal on behalf of the AIC community. This year, our goal is to triple our impact by raising $5,000– enough to donate over 1,500 pounds of food to the Pine Street Inn.
