Summer Stories is a brand-new class, taught by Miranda Aisling, that uses storytelling to help children connect art to their daily lives through activities like dance, collage, and cooking. The class is being offered for ages 6+ from July 10 through August 14 at Springstep, a nonprofit organization that fosters active community participation in dance, movement, and music.
Come hear about Tam o’ Shanter and the Scottish Witches, Blanche and the Talking Eggs, the mysteriously delicious Stone Soup, and much more! Each week’s class will start off with two or more of these wonderful stories followed by an art activity based on the stories. Not only will you get to hear about the Twelve Dancing Princesses and the King’s Three Dolls, you’ll get to learn the princesses’ dance and make dolls of your own. By doing this, students will become more familiar and comfortable with the stories that are already a part of their daily life while also discovering new stories and ways of expressing yourself.
