Steve Forbert was playing Americana music before there was such a thing, mixing country, rock, and blues. With his voice of gravel, ambitious lyrics and charismatic stage presence, Forbert was hailed as the next Bob Dylan when he came on the scene in the late 1970s. His songs are deceptively straight-ahead, saying much but suggesting much more. But Steve's real gift is a talent for penning direct, heartfelt narratives.
