    UMASS Medical School Distinguished Speaker Series presents deep-sea explorer and oceanographer, Robert Ballard, best known for his historic discoveries of hydrothermal vents, the sunken R.M.S. Titanic and the German battleship Bismarck. Mr. Ballard's lecture will focus on his discovery and exploration of the R.M.S. Titanic, whose tragic sinking occurred 100 years ago in 1912.

    As this year marks the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's fatal voyage, Ballard will speak about his expedition which lead to the discovery of one of the most famous shipwrecks in all history.
