Terrence McNally’s Tony Award-winning play gives an insightful look at the life and art of Maria Callas, the best-selling, rampageous opera star. Now in the twilight of her career, through a series of master classes, she reflects on her life, reliving theatrical artistic and painful intimate disappointments. Antonio Ocampo-Guzman (who also directed New Rep’s Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune and ‘ART’) directs this theatrical tour de force, exploring the complexity of celebrity, ego, ambition, achievement – and ultimately, the loss of identity and self-worth while struggling to let go of the past.
