India Association of Greater Boston's India Day 2012
August 12, 2012
India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) celebrates the 65th anniversary of India’s independence from British colonial rule with a multicultural extravaganza of music and dance at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston. The event draws an audience of thousands of people every year.
Her Excellency Nirupama Rao, India’s Ambassador to the United States will be the Chief Guest.
IAGB will mark 2012, its golden-jubilee year, by featuring unique items in the program, such as a classical dance that combines traditions dating back millennia; a “qawwali,” a lively choral presentation of a 700-year-old Sufi musical tradition; and an energetic rendition of “Jai Ho,” the contemporary song from the Oscar-winning film, “Slumdog Millionaire.”
Food, catered by One World Cuisine, will be available for purchase.
