Family Series: Bravo Bernstein
September 9, 2012
On January 18th, 1958, Leonard Bernstein’s first “Young People’s Concerts” was televised, bringing the New York Philharmonic into the living room to entertain and educate millions of American families. Following in Bernstein’s footsteps, the Redline Brass Quintet re-imagines these “Young People’s Concerts” as a tribute to Bernstein. With selections from West Side Story, Dance Suite for Brass Quintet, and various songs about his friend’s dogs, Redline invites the audience to explore the life and music of one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century.
