In Spanish. Free Admission Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy (b. 1945, Somoto, Nicaragua) is one of the most distinguished singer-songwriters of Latin America. Over the past 40 years he has recorded over 22 albums and CD’s, often putting to music the poetry of distinguished Central American poets (Rubén Darío, Ernesto Cardenal, Claribel Alegría). He has performed in concerts and festivals throughout the world, where he has shared the stage with fellow artists ranging from Mercedes Sosa to Pete Seeger and Joan Manuel Serrat. His talk and recital will center on the key role that music has played in the dynamics of social change in Latin America.
