He has been on the faculty of the New England Conservatory (Contemporary Improvisation, Jazz, Composition) for the last six years. He divides his time between New York, Boston and touring, both as composer and performer. He has 13 CDs available under his own name, and has played on about 100 others. His work for quartet, "Damaged by Sunlight," has recently been issued on DVD by La Huit, and his new CD of recent compositions, "The End of Summer," will be released shortly on John Zorn's label Tzadik. Other relatively recent activity has included the CD "Freakish: Anthony Coleman plays Jelly Roll Morton" (Tzadik); a month-long residency in Venice as a guest of Venetian Heritage; a commission for the Parisian Ensemble Erik Satie: Echoes From Elsewhere; tours of Japan and Europe with guitarist Marc Ribot's band Los Cubanos Postizos; a lecture/performance as part of the symposium Anton Webern und das Komponieren im 20. Jahrhundert (Neue Perspektiven, Basel, Switzerland); a commission from the String Orchestra of Brooklyn (Empfindsamer); and last, but not least, the premiere of his Matter of Operation by his NEC ensemble Survivors Breakfast at Brooklyn, NY's Issue Project Room.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Brookline Commission for the Arts, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
