    BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS: Beethoven & Messiaen

    For Beethoven’s birthday we offer two works. The clarinet trio is a fresh, spontaneous and charming work, with no illusions of grandeur and the bright Spring Sonata is perfect preparation for the apocalyptic vision of the Book of Revelations that follows.
