The Sight & Sound of India's Classical Music
with Peter Row & Special Guest Akshay Navaladi
This October, LCE is honored to welcome master musician, educator and author Peter Row to explain and demonstrate the majesty of India’s music. Peter Row is a performer on sitar and rudra vina. He is a member of the faculty of the New England Conservatory, where he served as Dean (1983-1990) and Provost (1990-1996 and 2000-2004). Peter is the former president of the Northeast Chapter of the Society of Ethnomusicology, and is widely published and has lectured about Indian music across the U.S. He has also served as a consultant on Asian music for the Smithsonian Institute. Akshay Navaladi was born into a family of classical music lovers and started music lessons at the age of six. He has been giving performances with both Hindustani and Carnatic music artiststs for the last several years in India and abroad.
This event will be held at the Follen Church, 755 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington on Friday, October 26th from 7:00-8:30pm. The cost is $10.00. Pre-registration is strongly recommended.
