    IT’S A BIRD, IT’S A PLANE, IT’S SUPERMAN’S NEW BIO

Seventy-five years after he came to life, Superman remains one of America’s most adored and enduring heroes. Now Larry Tye, the prize-winning journalist and New York Times best-selling author of Satchel, has written the first full-fledged history not just of the Man of Steel but of the creators, designers, owners, and performers who made him the icon he is today.
Tye will discuss his book, Superman: The High-Flying History of America’s Most Enduring Hero, the Man of Steel’s Jewish roots, and explore why this character has been a staple of American culture for generations at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center (333 Nahanton Street) in Newton on Thursday, November 15 at 7:30pm. Joining in the conversation will be Steven Maas, former editor of The Jewish Advocate.
The program is part of the Ryna Greenbaum JCC Boston Jewish Book Fair. Cost is $8. Purchase tickets at www.bostonjcc.org/bookfair or contact 617-965-5226 or boxoffice@jccgb.org
