The Town of Brookline welcomes the winter season by hosting a town-wide annual celebration on Thursday, November 29 from 5:00 to 8:00pm. The 1st Light Festival is held in Brookline’s commercial districts of Brookline Village, Coolidge Corner, Washington Square, Saint Mary’s and Putterham Circle. This year, Brookline will feature local music, dance, art and entertainment performances, light installations by Sina Lightworks in several locations, and a Brookline photo contest.

Sina Lightworks (Brookline residents Alejandro and Moira Sina) will be displayed at The Fireplace Restaurant, Washington Square Tavern, Fire Opal, Muddy River Art Gallery, Clear Four Bakery, Chobee Hoy Associates and more.

The Brookline photo contest will accept any photo of Brookline. Email high quality photo submissions to 1stlightbrookline@gmail.com by November 1, 2012. Submissions will be voted by how many “likes” a photo gets on the 1st Light Brookline Facebook page. The winner will receive a free jigsaw puzzle of the prize photograph from Eureka Puzzles, with additional puzzles for sale at participating Brookline businesses.

Brookline’s Winter Festival is organized by the Economic Development Division and volunteers to celebrate the upcoming holiday season, to support Brookline’s retailers and to integrate light and color by the local community during the darkest time of the year.

Participants during the 1st Light Festival include banks, restaurants, retailers, hotels, realtors, churches and more, by providing entertainment by local musicians, singers, dancers, artists, face painters, magicians, poets and puppeteers. Detailed maps with performance times and locations will be available at Brookline retailers and online.
