Science on Screen: The Prestige
December 10, 2012
The Coolidge Corner Theatre's Science on Screen series presents The Prestige, director Christopher Nolan's thrilling, twisting tale of two rival magicians (Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman) locked in an escalating battle for supremacy in turn-of-the-20th-century London. Trick by trick, show by show, their ferocious competition builds until it knows no bounds, even harnassing the fantastical new powers of electricity and the scientific brilliance of pioneering inventor Nikola Tesla (David Bowie) -- while the lives of everyone around them hangs in the balance. Before the film, MIT physics professor Peter Fisher talks about the legacy of the real-life Tesla - known as the genius who lit the world and the man who invented the 20th century - and the future of wireless power.
