The Blue and the Gray – A Civil War Discussion

WHEN GENERAL GRANT EXPELLED THE JEWS – A CIVIL WAR DISCUSSION– Pulitzer Prize winning author Tony Horwitz (Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid that Sparked the Civil War) and Brandeis professor Jonathan Sarna (When General Grant Expelled the Jews) will explore the Civil War from their unique perspectives at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center on Wednesday, November 28 at 7:30pm. The talk will include a provocative discussion of when General Ulysses S. Grant issued an order to expel Jews from their homes in the midst of the Civil War and the later political reverberations it may have caused.
The program is a Ryna Greenbaum JCC Boston Jewish Book Fair event. A free film screening of Jewish Soldiers in Blue and Gray will take place at the JCC at 1pm the same day.
