Talk by Carla Jones, associate professor of Anthropology, University of Colorado, "The Edge of Modesty: the Ethics and Aesthetics of Indonesian Islamic Fashion" held in conjunction with the exhibition Tranational Ikat: An Asian Textile on the Move. Jones (Ph.D. U.N.C. Chapel Hill 2001), studies the intersection of gender and class in contemporary urban Indonesia. She has written on middle-class femininity, domesticity and manners, and is currently researching debates about pious Islamic fashions.
