An evening of laughter with stand-up comic Cory Kahaney will be held on Wednesday, February 13 in Sharon as part of the festive celebrations of the Jewish holiday of Purim and the Hebrew month of Adar.

Kahaney has appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, the Joy Behar Show and NBC’s Last Comic Standing. She was voted best comedian in New York City by Backstage Magazine and has had her own comedy specials on Comedy Central and HBO.

The event, called Cocktails, Caring and Comedy, is part of an annual program geared for women in the South area. It is sponsored by the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston and will be held at Temple Israel of Sharon (125 Pond Street) at 7pm. Co-sponsors include Temple Israel Sisterhood (Sharon), Temple Sinai (Sharon), Temple Beth Abraham (Canton), Congregation Sha’aray Shalom (Hingham), Temple Kol Tikvah of Sharon, Temple Adath (Sharon), Ahavath Torah Congregation (Stoughton), Temple Beth Emunah (Brockton), Temple Chayai Shalom (Easton), Hadassah, Mayyim Hayyim, Temple Beth Am (Randolph) and Heights Crossing Assisted Living (Brockton).

Participants are asked to bring a pair of women’s or children’s pajamas or slippers or a used cell phone to the event to donate to New Hope, a South Shore organization that works to end domestic and sexual violence.

Cocktails, Caring and Comedy is a program of the Ryna Greenbaum JCC Center for the Arts and is open to the entire community. Cost is $20. Register by February 4 at www.bostonjcc.org/southwomen or contact southwomen@jccgb.org or 617-558-6478.
