Kottke is a walking contradiction. He’s slow talking and thoughtful almost to distraction. Yet when he picks up a steel-stringed guitar, his fingers race with uncommon speed, developing a deep, churning groove—often sounding like several guitars at once. Grammy-nominated Kottke has recorded more than 30 albums that showcase his quirky songwriting and barnstorming fretwork on his 6 and 12-stringed guitars.
