Vital: A Festival of Storytellers and Playwrights
June 14 - June 30, 2013
What makes a story worth telling? Why do some stories stay with us through the ages, and some stay inside us waiting for an interested ear? This June, Whistler in the Dark embarks on a journey to free the storyteller in us all.
“We started this season believing that we were interested in creating a single evening of theatre based on the writings of Joseph Cambell,” says Artistic Director Meg Taintor. “As we moved through the creation process, however, we became more excited about celebrating and exploring the story-tellers in our midst, and less excited about the trajectory of this one evening of theatre.”
As a result, the company has shelved the original project that launched the exploration and given its name to a nine-day festival of new plays and storytelling co-hosted by Whistler and the Charlestown Working Theater.
