    Empty Choreography: Buddhism and Taoism Temple Music

    Four acclaimed virtuosos of Chinese wind instruments: Bao Jian, Hu Jianbing, Chen Tao, and Guo Yazhi, on guanzi pipe, sheng mouth organ, dizhu flute, suona, and percussions performing rarely heard ancient tune of authentic Buddhist and Taoist music in its original style. The “Zhou Jintang” of the Beijing Zhihua Temple has 26 generations of masters teaching and existed more than 560 years. The old music preserved by this Temple carries a significant meaning to Chinese musical history. Pre-concert lecture 6:30p. Free student tickets available.
