    Stage & Screen: M

In Fritz Lang's M, Peter Lorre gives what many consider his greatest performance as an elusive child murder who escapes the eye of the law, but not the wrath of Berlin’s criminal underworld.

Combining biting social commentary with harrowing suspense, Lang created a panorama of private madness and public hysteria that remains the blueprint for the psychological thriller.

Boston playwright Ryan Landry, famous for his irreverently funny adaptations of classics (Psyched, Death of a Saleslady, The Little Pricks) puts his own twisted stamp on Lang’s classic suspense film with “M”, a hilarious, gender-bending piece of theater that features puppets and cross dressing. Following the screening, the Boston theater legend will discuss how Lang’s movie inspired his unique theatrical adaptation.

“M”, directed by Caitlin Lowans and starring Karen MacDonald, plays at the Huntington’s Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA March 29 – April 27, 2013. Click here for more information and/or tickets.
