    South Indian Classical Dance and Music

    An evening of Classical Indian Dance and Music featuring Bharatanatyam dancer Mesma Belsare (www.mesmabelsare.com) and Carnatic vocalist Deepti Navaratna (www.deeptinavaratna.com). This concert explores LOVE from the carnal to the spiritual through the language of music, dance and poetry in compositions that were performed in South Indian temples and royal courts.     An evening of Classical Indian Dance and Music featuring Bharatanatyam dancer Mesma Belsare (www.mesmabelsare.com) and Carnatic vocalist Deepti Navaratna (www.deeptinavaratna.com). This concert explores LOVE from the carnal to the spiritual through the language of music, dance and poetry in compositions that were performed in South Indian temples and royal courts. Enjoy a repertory of South Indian classical dance and music from the 8th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

    They are joined by Murali Balachandran on the mridangam (percussion) and Soumya Ramanathan (nattuvangam or cymbals). Program supported by The Cambridge Arts Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

    TICKETS: $20 for adults, $15 for members and students(with a valid ID).
