Stone Cold Fox/Branches/Broken Anchor
February 16, 2013
Olken and Loh met as classmates at SUNY Purchase where Stone Cold Fox originated as an acoustic bedroom project that has expanded and grown into a solid indie-folk group that “emanates a youthful and energetic sense of comfort through beautiful songs, simple aesthetics and innovative production.” (FIKA Coffee Break) Now complete with Justin Bright (electric bass/bass synth), Graham Stone (guitar, backup vocals) and David Tedeschi (drums), Stone Cold Fox show off “heavy, irreverent songwriting under catchy, indie pop tunes“ (Hyphen Magazine) that “capture the spirit of being young in America.” (Given and Taken in Ink Music)
Best friends turned band-mates, the lady and gentlemen of Branches are an independent, self-writing and self-producing collective. Birthed in a living room in the suburbs of Los Angeles in 2010, Tyler, Natalie, Jacob, Mitch, Tyler, and Mike have since spent their time together making friends, playing shows, and writing and recording the songs for their EPs ("O, Light!", "Cabin", "Covers", "Songs For Christmas") and their full-length ("Thou Art The Dream", released 2/12).
Following a successful release party at Echo Country Outpost, Broken Anchor immediately began work on Vol. 2, released at the end of August and Vol. 3, released in October. The new offerings are indicative of the evolution of the band towards a more rocking sound.
