Life in the Art World: Life Magazine and Modern American Art

Please join us for the first lecture of 2013 in the Nichols House Museum lecture series! Life magazine was a champion of American modernism, actively promoting the work of 20th- Century artists and architects, including Thomas Hart Benton, Georgia O’Keefe, Stuart Davis, Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauschenberg, and Frank Lloyd Wright. This lecture will explore the magazine’s alliances with artists, architects, curators and critics, and will discuss how such collaborations influenced public’s reception of modern art in the United States.
