"Pictures at an Exhibition" Art Exhibit

    Presented by

    March 6 - April 13, 2013

The Copley Society of Art is proud to announce a new collaboration with the Boston Symphony Orchestra this spring. To celebrate the BSO performance of “Pictures at an Exhibition” on April 12 and 13, 2013, Co|So will exhibit 32 original works created by Copley artists based on the musical movements in Modest Mussorgsky’s composition. The exhibition was juried by John Kirby, president of Boston Art Inc. and Ron Della Chiesa, WGBH, a longtime fixture of the Boston classical music scene and announcer for the BSO concerts. 32 works were chosen to correspond with the music, 2 works for each of the16 movements. The works represent a variety of styles and media, from abstract oil paintings, to representational photographs, and impressionistic pastels, with the uniting thread of Mussorgsky’s music.
